Golfers aim to fill fundraising hole

An annual golf tournament will be raising money towards state-of-the-art imaging equipment at the region's new cancer and heart centre.

The Daisy Appeal has already raised 7.5m to build and equip the medical research centre on the Castle Hill Hospital site in Cottingham.

The charity is now trying to raise 4.5m for a cyclotron and small laboratory to make isotopes that would be used in a new PET/CT scanning facility being developed at the hospital. So far, 2.5m has been collected.

The appeal's fourth annual golf tournament takes place next Friday at Hull Golf Club in Kirkella, followed by a dinner dance at Willerby Manor Hotel.

Last year's event raised 110,000.

Entering a team in this year's event costs 350 – which includes golf for four and a table for eight in the evening.
