Graduation awards with 360 ‘degrees’

A YOUTH programme is being launched next week to inspire 360 young people from Bradford, Leeds and Calderdale to grow in confidence, learn life-skills and support their local communities.

NCS is a three-week social development programme for 16-year-olds being led the National Citizen Service and supported by the Co-operative.

The programme will include residential visits to Hope Valley in the Peak District and Bramhope Scout Camp in Leeds, and the opportunity to come up with team projects to benefit their community. They will also take part in a degree style graduation ceremony at the Corn Exchange in Leeds.

Linda Gomila, the Co-op’s membership officer for the North, said she hoped the project would help young people to learn new skills and build up links with their local community.
