A vinyl artwork can be seen in all its glory outside York Art Gallery in Exhibition Square.

The piece, which was created by a London-based firm, Graffiti Life, uses inspiration from art traditionally found in railways and aims to show people the experience they have right on their doorstep at NYMR. The art depicts Royal Scot arriving into Grosmont Station which people can come and see for themselves from March 25.

The chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, Sir Gary Verity, said: “This amazing artwork really has the wow factor, just like the spectacular Yorkshire countryside the Royal Scot will be travelling through during its stay in the county.”

In 2017, the railway celebrates 50 years since the formation of the NYMR Preservation Society, forerunner of the current Charitable Trust.

Royal Scot will steam in to set the new season off in style on various dates in March and April. For information visit www.nymr.co.uk/timetables-and-fares/fares/.
