Grant boost for community groups

Communities from throughout Ryedale are set to benefit from a new £250,000 grant scheme.

Ryedale District Council has allocated £250,000 to a new grant fund, the Community Investment Fund, which is open to any Ryedale community organisation or group, for projects and activities which make a positive impact on the communities of Ryedale.

The projects, activities or services to be considered by the Community Investment Fund Panel can be varied and diverse but must be able to show that they make a positive contribution to things like housing needs, prevent homelessness, support the conditions for economic success and increase skills and wage levels.

There are three meetings of the panel in the next year at which applications will be considered and the deadline for applications to the next meeting of the panel is June 15. “The aim of the Community Investment Fund is to give any Ryedale group the chance to access vital funds to boost their local community,” said Coun Caroline Goodrick, chairman of Ryedale District Council’s Community Investment Fund Committee.

“This money could make a real difference to the quality of life of local people in times of financial hardship.
