Grants help uncover area's heritage

THOUSANDS of pounds in grants are being made available to unearth the rich heritage of North Yorkshire dating back to prehistoric times.

Awards of up to 5,000 to support rural heritage projects are being offered under the new scheme that has been launched through the Coast, Wolds, Wetlands and Waterways (CWWW) LEADER project.

LEADER rural communities heritage co-ordinator David Bull said: “The area has a rich and varied rural heritage, from evidence of the first hunter-gathers at Star Carr in the Vale of Pickering to the pioneering Wold farmsteads of the agricultural revolution and everything in between.
