Growing row on rail entrance
A ROW over disabled access to the new £15m new entrance for Leeds city rail station has escalated.
Campaigners fear the pedestrianised south entrance, due to open in 2014, will be inaccessible for wheelchair users who use door-to-door drop off services.
They say the plans for the entrance, which links to the waterfront area and the south side of the city, are aimed at pedestrians and neglect the needs of wheelchair users or those who need to be dropped off.

Hide AdHowever, Metro says the new entrance has been designed to be accessible and compliant with legislation.
A spokesman said: “The structure includes two lifts providing step-free access between the station concourse level and ground level as well as escalators and stairs.”
