Hangers firm moves to find room for growth

GARMENT hanger company Braiform has moved from its base in Barnsley to larger premises in Ecclesfield, Sheffield, to allow for further expansion.

The company, which supplies more than a billion hangers each year to retailers and has operations in more than 30 countries, has now taken a 10-year lease on a new 146,000 square foot warehouse at Provincial Park.

Ray Allsebrook, general manager at Braiform, said: "Braiform has had a very successful period of growth here in South Yorkshire over the past five years and, due to the ongoing success and growth of the business, needed to relocate to larger premises.

"The new site and its location in Ecclesfield presented us with the ideal opportunity to invest further in our long-term future, whilst retaining most of our existing workforce."

Used hangers from high street retailers will be delivered to the Braiform factory in Ecclesfield and sorted, to be either reused and resold or recycled.

Mr Allsebrook added: "This relocation has also given us the opportunity to access additional skills and resources here in Sheffield to help us with our plans to expand further over the coming months and years.

"We are therefore very pleased to now be fully operational and look forward to forging some lasting relationships with the local communities here in Sheffield."

Steve Wainwright, investor development manager at development company Creativesheffield, said the relocation was "great news" for the city.

He said: "We look forward to helping them with their development, which should provide long term benefits to the local community, in addition to their ongoing contribution to the waste reduction agenda and its wider positive impact on the environment."
