A SHEFFIELD hospice which has financial problems has been awarded 1,750 from an energy giant’s community fund after an employee nominated it for a grant.

E.ON employee Chris Kingston, became involved with St Luke’s Hospice, which has announced cuts, when his father became a patient several years ago.

He said: “I’ve supported the hospice in every way I can since my father was diagnosed and I’m delighted that E.ON is able to help in this way. You don’t realise the impact on the individual, their family and friends until you’ve experienced this kind of situation first hand.

“The people at St Luke’s offer care and support in improving the lives of others and work tremendously hard to meet the needs of patients and their loved ones at what is a difficult time in their lives.”

Hannah Jordan, corporate and trust fundraising manager at St Luke’s, added: “I was delighted when Chris contacted me about his application to E.ON’s Employee Community Fund.

“The donation has made a great difference to patients, staff and visitors. On behalf of everyone at St Luke’s we would like to thank both Chris and E.ON.”
