Harrogate Town fans call for street party to celebrate club's promotion

In a week where communities across the UK are hosting street parties to mark the royal wedding, Harrogate Town fans are looking to organise a street party of their very own to celebrate the club's historic promotion to the National League on Sunday.

The Harrogate Town Supporters Club has backed suggestions from other fans on Twitter that the side's success should be honoured and celebrated with a street party.

Club member Jordan Ford said: "We have our club AGM next week, and this is definitely something I will be bringing up then. A street party is the sort of thing that the town should embrace. It's a chance for everybody to celebrate everything that Harrogate Town has achieved - the players, the management team, and everyone who works so hard behind the scenes.

"It's also really nice for all the supporters who have followed the club on this journey. When I started going to every game six or seven years ago, there might have been 300 or 400 people there, but for there to be 3,000 people there on Sunday was amazing. The support for Harrogate Town is really growing."

Jordan said one of the reasons why he supports Harrogate Town is the club's community ethos.

He said: "The community aspect of the club really stands out, I don't think you get anything quite like it anywhere else. A lot of children and families go to watch Harrogate Town.

"With the promotion and all the ground improvements as well, it all seems to be coming together for Harrogate Town."
