Harry breaks records at 13lb 15oz

Weighing in at almost a stone, Harry Crossland stunned his mother and medical staff when he arrived and has smashed all records at the maternity unit where he was born.

The 13lb 15oz newborn is the biggest baby ever to be delivered at Doncaster's Royal Infirmary, but his parents said they had no idea that he was going to be almost double the average weight.

Parents Sharon Needham, 35, and Paul Crossland, 51, have now had to bypass the tiny clothes they had bought and buy new ones for a child aged between three and six months. Miss Needham, who underwent an emergency caesarean section when her baby's size was realised, said: "When the nurses popped him over the curtain we were both speechless."
