Hate crime a ‘serious issue’ for police tsar

WEST Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner took part in a discussion on hate crime at the first in a series of round-table events.

Mark Burns-Williamson met more than 60 people from the public and voluntary sectors in Leeds for talks on crimes relating to race, sexuality, disability and religion.

He said the event would help him formulate the Police and Crime Plan he will draft in the coming weeks. Similar discussions on other issues are planned.

“Hate crime is a serious issue that can make victims’ lives a misery,” he said.
