Have your say on affordable housing

AN AFFORDABLE housing strategy for North Yorkshire will be fine-tuned in a countywide public consultation, which is being launched this month.

The public are being asked to pinpoint the areas which are in greatest need of new housing as part of the six-week consultation, which will help secure and direct future investment.

The strategy is being overseen by the North Yorkshire Strategic Housing Partnership.

A partnership will involve housing officers from North Yorkshire’s district and county councils, as well as officials from the national parks covering the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.

The Local Government York and North Yorkshire Housing Board’s chairwoman, Coun Jean Butterfield, said: “Only by listening to – and taking into account – the views of as many people as possible can we produce a strategy that tackles the most critical housing issues in York and North Yorkshire.”

The latest consultations start on Monday. More information, as well as access to an online survey, is available at www.northyorkshirehousingstrategy.co.uk, and leaflets are also available from housing departments.
