Health chiefs try Latin dance craze

HEALTH chiefs are to take part in a Latin American dance session to encourage their colleagues to lead healthier lives.

Senior staff and governors at Humber NHS Foundation Trust will try their hand at Zumba, the rapidly growing dance-based exercise class, during a staff health day at the organisation’s headquarters in Willerby tomorrow.

Taster sessions in Tai Chi and table tennis are among the other activities planned in an effort to promote and maintain the mental and physical wellbeing of employees.

Trust chief executive David Snowden said: “We provide NHS services to the people of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and our 3,000 staff work hard to improve the wellbeing of local people. We need to make sure that our staff consider their own health and wellbeing as well as that of others.

“Research shows that there is a clear link between good employee wellbeing and levels of productivity, motivation and sickness absence, directly improving the quality of care.”

Advice will also be given on healthy eating, smoking and stress, while staff band The Dysons will provide the soundtrack.
