Dementia care specialists Vida Healthcare have had their ‘passion and commitment’ recognised at an awards ceremony in York.

The Harrogate care provider was presented with The Care Employer Award at the Great Yorkshire & Humber Care Awards 2018 at the National Railway Museum on 17 November.

The category was looking for care firms who delivered excellent service with a sustained track record of high quality care and planned improvements. Judges were looking for excellence in adapting to changes in social care priorities, together with continuous investment in staff training and development.

Healthcare director Bernadette Mossman and operations director Jill Young were at the event with members of the Vida team to pick up the award.

Vida Healthcare provides specialised dementia care as well as day care and respite services at two purpose-built care homes that offer quality, person-centred care, state-of-the-art facilities and all the comforts of home.

Vida Hall in Starbeck and Vida Grange in Pannal are divided into smaller, specialist houses, designed to cater for a range of care needs from people in the early stages of dementia to those with more complex needs. Vida Healthcare is one of the few providers that offers a dedicated service to younger people, aged 65 and under.

Employing over 400 specialist staff, the company uses the latest research and best practice in dementia care as well as extensive in-house clinical expertise to work with people with dementia and their families to develop a tailored care plan.

This collaborative approach ensures the highly skilled can deliver the most effective care and support.

Managing director, James Rycroft, said: “I would like to say how proud I am that Vida Healthcare has been recognised in this category. We continually strive to be creative and innovative in our approach to recruitment and retention and consider our staff to be the lifeblood of our service.”

The GBCA website says: “This company’s passion and commitment to excellence is truly embedded in their leadership, recruitment and training. They’ve developed a number of innovative approaches to valuing, recognising and supporting staff by providing an open and transparent culture. This facilitates staff professional development, positive mental health and wellbeing and a culture of continuous improvement.”
