‘Heartless’ thieves steal memorials

THIEVES have stolen two memorial plaques installed at the site of an accident which claimed the life of a 21-year-old from Whitby.

Police are appealing for information after the two metal plaques were taken from the side of the A169 at Saltersgate bank, where a collision on Friday, March 16 claimed the life of Carl Roe of Fountains Close, Whitby.

Speaking on behalf of Mr Roe’s family, his mother, Alison Roe, said: “The whole family is completely devastated by this horrible theft, coming so soon after the loss of Carl.
