Height of adventure

Aerial adventures awaited a group of people who were among the first to try a new attraction in Sheffield yesterday which involves walking on ropes high above the ground.

Aerial Extreme is described as an "urban high ropes adventure course", with more than 30 obstacles include zip wires, mid-air jumps and climbing walls.

The 250,000 project has been built next to iceSheffield in the city's Attercliffe area and instructors said no experience or skill was required to take part in the activities on offer. They said those taking part are connected using a "fail-safe clip and go safety system" which sees participants clipped to a harness that is always securely attached to a safety wire.

Andy Fisher, of estate agents Blundells, was among the invited group who tried the course yesterday. He said: "The course gets higher and higher and at some points when you are walking over logs dangling with nothing to hold on to, it certainly gives you something to think about.

"Over the whole course it really does put you to the test, physically and mentally."
