Help to shape the future of transport

YORK residents are being asked to help shape the future of transport in the city to help attract investment and jobs while also promoting Green Travel.

The survey is part of the ongoing look at proposals for transport schemes in the city from 2011 onwards called the Local Transport Plan, which is the third to be drawn up by York as a unitary authority. Consultations on the latest vision for transport in York started last year and local communities are now being asked to become guiding lights of the strategy as well.

A council spokesman said: "The survey focuses on how transport can contribute to improving access to amenities and services, a better environment and a stronger economy in York.

"It also asks about how more people who live or work in York can be encouraged to use sustainable forms of transport, such as walking, cycling and using public transport for getting around the city."

Anyone who would like to take part can access the survey on the council's website at www.york. gov.uk/consultation/ Responses must be returned by July 16. Key issues include improving accessibility to and within York and cutting greenhouse gases .
