The three-part travelogue series, to be hosted on YouTube by Visit York, will showcase the sights and sounds of the historic city and its surrounding areas from the perspective of an adventurous pup named Yorkie.

Viewers can watch him stroll along one of Europe’s most famous medieval streets, the Shambles, and get a dog’s eye view of the giant locomotives at the National Railway Museum when the films launch later this month.

News of the unconventional films follows the launch of the world’s first scratch-and-sniff travel guide dubbed Smell York by Visit York, the tourism brand of Make It York.

Kate McMullen, head of tourism at Make It York, said: “We hope our visitors and York fans will enjoy seeing York through the eyes of ‘Yorkie’, our adorable Yorkshire Terrier.

“He’ll be exploring some of York’s world-class attractions and bringing a fun flavour of the adventure that awaits here in beautiful North Yorkshire.”
