Heroes' reception for rescued miners

The 33 rescued Chilean miners unfurl the country's flag outside La Moneda presidential palace in Santiago after a ceremony to honour them.

The men were given a heroes' reception by President Sebastian Pinera.

Each of the miners, who spent more than two months trapped underground, was presented with a medal to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Chile's independence from Spain, which was celebrated during their ordeal.

The miners are also reported to be set to play a football match against their rescuers and government officials, with the miners' team coached by one of the rescued men, Franklin Lobos, a former professional footballer.

Meanwhile, the fascination with the miners continues with several books about their ordeal being written and talk of a Hollywood film. The message that announced that the trapped men were alive and well also has been copyrighted on behalf of the miner who wrote it, Jose Ojeda. It was discovered attached to a probe 17 days after the mine collapse.
