Heroes' welcome for athletes

Teenage diver Tom Daley and his fellow Commonwealth medal winners Natalie Melmore and Katherine Endacott got welcome fit for heroes from the crowds when they paraded through their home town of Plymouth yesterday on an open-topped bus.

Daley scooped a double gold at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, despite being injured, and achieved, by his own admission a rare feat with 10s across the board in the 10-metre individual dive.

The 16-year-old said: 'It was an amazing competition for me and it was one of the ones I'll definitely remember for the rest of my life.'
