Hi-tech care home brings 40 new jobs

Yorkshire-based LNT Group has built Newfield Lodge on the site of a former local authority home.

The two-storey home will eventually be home to 64 elderly people, each in en-suite accommodation.

When it opens later this week, it will be staffed by a team of 20, full and part-time, but that will double as occupancy increases, according to a company spokesman.

Newfield Lodge has a range of energy saving features including ground source heat pumps which draw heat from the ground to supply an under-floor heating system.

The spokesman said the ground source heat pumps repaid the initial capital investment within eight years.
