Hi-tech gadgets of year

ONCE the Gadget of the Year might have been an electric tin-opener. But the world has moved on.

The Top 10 Gadgets of 2011, compiled by a panel of technology experts in time for Christmas, is headed by the Elgato EyeTV mobile, which allows iPad2 users to watch and record television via their tablets without the need for any internet connection; ski goggles with a built-in Global Positioning System and “the world’s best Lego kit”, comprising 2,048 pieces and including a working crane.

They are all high on a Tech List of 100 desirable gadgets published in The Sunday Times this weekend. In a survey being reported with the list, the public voted the laptop as their favourite gadget.
