THE NEW chief executive of Yorkshire's main circus training centre took to the high wire to prepare for his latest "challenging and rewarding" role.
Craig Gamble Pugh marked his appointment as the new boss of Greentop Circus in Grimesthorpe, Sheffield, by trying his hand at a variety of circus skills, including the hula hoops and trapeze.
One of his first challenges in his new job will be to promote a series of Valentine's Day-themed workshops which will take place on Saturday, February 14.
A former head of the South Sheffield Partnership and South Yorkshire's Academy for Community Leadership, Mr Pugh said that he aims to make Greentop the best circus training centre in the north of England.
He added: "This is an exciting opportunity to work with an organisation that is making a real difference to people's lives.
"The staff, volunteers and trustees at Greentop are passionate about what they do and I feel privileged to be working with them."
Alison Andrews, performing arts officer at the Yorkshire branch of the Arts Council, said it was an "important time for circus artists and audiences in the region".
She added: "We have been working closely with Greentop to strengthen the management structure of this key organisation and we are delighted to welcome Craig to lead the
team as it takes on new challenges."
