Historic first for Duchess

The Duchess of Cornwall, who left school at 16, has made history by being installed as the first female chancellor of Aberdeen University. Camilla, known as the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, is also the first member of the Royal Family to hold the post.

An installation ceremony took place at the university’s Elphinstone Hall yesterday before she undertook her first duty as Chancellor, following in the footsteps of two prime ministers, presenting six honorary degrees to representatives of the arts, law, medicine and sport.
