Hit-and-run driver facing jail

A hit-and-run driver who knocked down two children outside their home, leaving one with permanent disabilities, has been found guilty of dangerous driving.

Mohammed Anwar faces jail over the incident in which Sabah Saleem, 10, and her two-year-old brother Rayhan were thrown eight feet into the air after being struck by a speeding Vauxhall Astra.

Car salesman Anwar, 37, drove off after the incident in Brudenell Road, Leeds, in August last year.

A jury took less than three hours to reach a unanimous verdict at Leeds Crown Court yesterday.

Anwar, of Brudenell Mount, who had already pleaded to perverting justice, failing to stop and failing to report an accident, was bailed until sentencing on November 29.
