Hit and run victim, five, fights for life

A five-year-old boy was fighting for his life last night after he was hit by car that failed to stop, police said.

The boy was struck at 3.15pm on Saturday near a pedestrian crossing, in Larkhill, Wiltshire.

The child, who is from the local area, was hit by a car travelling towards Shrewton.

The collision occurred close to the crossing between a shopping parade and a road.

A man from Frome in Somerset was arrested in connection with the incident and later released on police bail.
