Hit-run death of student, 20

POLICE investigating a hit-and-run death fear the woman victim may have been dragged for more than 100 yards along the road.

A 20-year-old student, believed to be from Singapore, was found lying in the road with fatal injuries in Haverstock Hill, north London, at about 2am yesterday.

Several personal items, including a purse and mobile phone, as well as blood, were found by investigators outside Belsize Park Tube station.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the woman was pronounced dead by medical staff after a member of public called emergency services at 1.55am.

He said: “We await formal identification and inquiries continue to trace next of kin. A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

“At this early stage, it is believed the woman may have been involved in a collision with a vehicle that did not stop at the scene.”
