Hockney snubbed death with Apple

Yorkshire artist David Hockney has revealed he turned down a deal to endorse Apple products.

The 76-year-old, who uses an iPad to produce his work, said in an interview it would have compromised his independence.

Hockney’s new exhibition in San Francisco, near Apple’s Silicon Valley base, will feature drawings he created using the tablet device.

The Bradford-born artist moved back to California after his assistant Dominic Elliott died at his Bridlington home last year.
