Hockney's Grimm etchings return to artist's home city

The exhibition at Bradford 1 Gallery in Centenary Square will bring together the full series of 39 copper plate etchings the artist produced in 1969 to illustrate six tales from the Brothers Grimm.

The event will also include a children's creative area with dressing up, a story corner and murals relating to the six fairy tales: The Little Sea Hare, Fundevogel, Rapunzel, The Boy Who Left Home to Learn Fear, Old Rinkrank and Rumpelstilzchen.

Councillor Paul Flowers, Bradford Council's executive member for sport and leisure, said: "I'm sure this exhibition will be enjoyed by people of all ages. It will give adults the chance to re-appraise these delightful pieces of work by David Hockney as well as giving children the chance to get creative."

The exhibition will open tomorrow with a traditional children's tea party at the gallery between 11am and 2pm.

David Hockney: Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm will run until March 6.
