Holiday firm Pontin's calls in administrators

No redundancies have been made at the firm, which employs 850 staff in the UK, and administrators KPMG said all five sites will continue to run as normal. A helpline has been set up for customers who have booked holidays and may have concerns, and will be open from Monday on 0844 576 8481.

KPMG said last night it was in the process of appointing an experienced leisure operator to the company so it continues trading and to ensure guests' holiday expectations are met.

Jane Moriarty, joint administrator and restructuring partner, said: "Pontin's is an iconic British brand which forms the backdrop to thousands of treasured family holiday memories. It has unfortunately struggled in the current economic environment but, with some support from new management, we are optimistic that it will be part of thousands of family memories in the years to come."
