First-time Sheffield film makers John Watts and Thomas Woods were delighted and surprised when their self-financed preview became popular on the video sharing site.

It has already been seen by more than 80,000 people worldwide.

The pair used waiters from their local Chinese restaurant in Sheffield as extras for their trailer The Lost Emperor, an epic which is set in China.

They scraped together £20,000 of their own money to film the trailer in the UK with Derbyshire’s Peak District standing in for ancient China.

The all-action trailer includes impressive fight scenes, stunts and computer-generated sequences.

Now the pair are in talks with a Hollywood-based production team about developing their script into a full movie with a budget of around $13m.

Hollywood studios are keen to break into the huge Chinese market and are actively seeking a project which might appeal.

Mr Watts had the idea for the movie after visiting China with his Chinese wife Gracie.

The clip has already had more than 83,000 views on YouTube in just two weeks.

The movie trailer, which runs for around two-and-a-half minutes, can be viewed on YouTube.
