Holness quiz show returns

Once popular TV quiz show Blockbusters is to make a comeback – shortly after the death of its original host Bob Holness.

The programme was a teatime ITV hit throughout the 1980s as three contestants battled it out, two against one, to reach the “Gold Run” section.

Now a 40-episode series of the programme is to be screened by Challenge TV in the next few months, although this time it will be aimed at grown-ups rather than school-age teenagers.

The BSkyB-owned station has already been repeating archive editions of the show.

Original questionmaster Holness died on January 6 at the age of 83. He died in his sleep but had suffered a series of strokes.

No presenter has yet been announced for the new series.
