Mrs Silman came to England as a refugee in April 1939 when she was nine.

Her parents and many other family members did not survive, with her mother one of two million people still unaccounted for.

The Guildhall commemoration, which starts at 6.30pm, will include reflective music performed by Cantabile, the Albemarle Octet and young soloist Alice Gold.

As well as Lord Mayor Coun Karen Woods, other invited guests at the event will include the Bishop of Hull, the Right Rev Richard Frith, Rabbi of the Hull Hebrew Congregation Shalom Osdoba and members of the local community.
