Home put before marriage

Nearly a third of couples are choosing to buy a home together as a sign of their commitment, rather than get married, a Post Office survey suggested.

Three out of 10 people said buying a property with their partner would remove the pressure on them to get married, or at least enable them to delay tying the knot. More than half of people said they would consider buying a property with their other half before they got married.

The study also suggested that couples may be bringing forward decisions to buy a home with a partner because it is the only way they can get on to the property ladder.
