Homes raided in burglary crackdown

SOME 24 suspects have been arrested in the first two weeks of a police campaign to clamp down on burglary and possession of stolen goods.

The six-week campaign, known as Operation Kustody, was launched on July 14 in South Yorkshire where rates of acquisitive crime have been stubbornly high in recent months.

So far officers have executed eight warrants and arrested 24 outstanding suspects who were wanted in connection with various offences.

This week police raided an address on Manor Park Drive, Sheffield, and recovered 10 suspected stolen phones as well as suspected cannabis.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and possession of controlled drugs.

Officers have also offered crime prevention advice.
