Horsforth Leeds crash: JustGiving fund launched to support families affected

An online appeal has been launched to raise funds for the families affected by the horror crash that claimed the lives of four men in Horsforth.

Matt Walshaw, 18, Declan Grove, 19, Brandon Frew, 19 and Caelan Megson, 21, died when the Seat Leon they were travelling in collided with a Seat Alhambra taxi on the Broadway A6120 ring road on June 30.

Two girls, aged 16 and 17, who were also travelling in the Seat Leon, were seriously injured and taken to hospital, while the 42-year-old taxi driver from Bradford was also hurt.

Now Stuart Andrew, Horsforth MP, has set up an crowdfunding appeal to raise £1,000 for those affected by the crash.

It comes just days after inquests into the deaths of the four men killed were opened in Wakefield on Thursday.

“Following consultation with the police and with agreement from the families, this page has been set up to help raise funds for the families of all the victims to help them at this difficult time,” Mr Andrew wrote on the dedicated JustGiving page.

“The whole community of Horsforth are so shocked and saddened at the loss of four young lives.

“All our thoughts and prayers are with all the families and friends who have been affected by this horrific accident.”

The fund will be managed by representatives of the community and all money raised will go towards those involved in the crash in both cars, he added.
