Hospitals charity brightens image to encourage support

CHARITY workers who raise funds for Sheffield’s main hospitals have rebranded their appeal in a bid to increase awareness of its work and increase income.

Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust has changed its name to the Sheffield Hospitals Charity and also unveiled a new logo which it will use in its work in the city.

Charity director David Reynolds said: “We believe that our charity has a huge opportunity as Sheffield’s NHS charity to make a significant impact to patient care and treatment in Sheffield.

“To do this we need to increase awareness of our work, and increase our fundraising income. The first step towards both of these things is our new, more modern name and logo.”

Mr Reynolds said the charity is in a “unique position” because it covers every department in every hospital in Sheffield. Each year it awards grants worth £2m.

Recent projects have included new equipment, ward improvements, medical research and additional study programmes for NHS staff.

It is also the charity behind the city’s Cystic Fibrosis Appeal, Sheffield Leukaemia Appeal and the South Yorkshire Heart Appeal.

Mr Reynolds added: “We already benefit from the support of grateful hospital patients and their families.

“But with more widespread support from people and organisations in Sheffield we can do even more to transform the face of healthcare locally.”

A series of new initiatives are planned this year to help increase income and support new projects. The charity said the first was a new website which will be online in the next few weeks.
