Hot laptops can cause skin damage

People who work with a laptop on their knees can develop "toasted skin syndrome" a mottled-skin condition caused by heat exposure, Swiss researchers said in an article in the United States journal Paediatrics.

In one case, a 12-year-old boy developed a skin discolouration on his left thigh after playing computer games for a few hours every day for several months. He knew the laptop got hot but did not move it.
