Hotelier to be remembered at the races

A RACE at Wetherby racecourse is being renamed the Tom Bannister Memorial Cup this year, in memory of a hotelier and joint master of the Pendle Forest and Craven Hunt, who died in a car accident.

The Countryside Alliance’s Northern Race for Repeal, on November 27, is being renamed in memory of Mr Bannister, who died in June aged 48.

The fundraising event features 12 local riders racing over a mile starting at 11.30am.

Countryside Alliance regional director Simon Hamlyn said: “Tom was an exceptional supporter of hunting and racing in Yorkshire.”

Tickets are available by calling 01937 582035.
