House fire in Tunstall

Six fire engines were called to a house fire in the village of Tunstall, near Caterick last night.

The fire was first reported at about 10.20pm.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said crews from three stations were forced to fight the fire from the outside. The incident was so serious, three more engines were called in, one from Darlington.

It is not thought anyone was involved in the fire, which destroyed 50 per cent of the house. The cause is still under investigation.
