A NEW venture has been launched to encourage York’s business community to help financially stretched charities by providing strategy planning workshops and business advice.
Enterprise Hub for Charities is a new collaboration between local businesses represented by employee-volunteering charity York Cares, the University of York, York Council for Voluntary Services and Your Consortium.
It is hoped the new initiative will ensure the survival of charities who do vital work in the community and help them find new ways of generating income.
Chairman of York Cares John Lister said: “Charities provide invaluable support to some of the most disadvantaged people in our community who are particularly vulnerable at this difficult time.
“The Enterprise Hub for Charities is designed to encourage employers to deliver strategy and business planning workshops for charities, donate a few hours to a talent pool and mentor university student volunteers undertaking charity internships relating to marketing, HR, finance and law.”
The launch event will take place on Monday and will be attended by some of the city’s biggest employers.
