A Hull man has been charged after a 15-year-old girl is alleged to have been punched in the face.

It was reported that a man approached the girl on Anlaby Road in Hull at 9.30pm on Saturday and demanded her phone.

He is then alleged to have punched her in the face, causing bruising and swelling. She was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment.

A suspect was detained by members of the public outside West Park and officers arrived and arrested a 39-year-old Hull man.

He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and appeared at Hull Magistrates Court yesterday.
