Hull Truck and firms treat foster children

More than 1,000 young people, who are either foster children, fostering families, children in residential care, young carers or siblings of disabled children, have been offered a free ticket to see Hull Truck Theatre's festive production of A Christmas Carol.

The tickets have been provided through donations from NPS Group and MKM Building Supplies, with Hull Truck matching their giving in-kind

Rachel Palmer from Hull Council's Hull Fostering Team, said: "Hull Fostering and the many families we support are delighted to be working with local businesses to create more opportunities for the most vulnerable children in society.

"Already fostering families have been calling to express their gratitude andtheir children are already looking forward to performances."

A Christmas Carol, which is adapted and directed by Hull Truck's Associate Director Nick Lane, runs until December 31.

The sponsorship came via the Gift of Christmas campaign, the latest in a series of innovative fund raising schemes launched by the theatre to attract corporate support.

A spokesman for MKM Building Supplies said: "David Kilburn, Chief Executive,and Bill Acton, Managing Director, bothembrace the opportunity to get involved in local community projects, and are particularly delighted to have the opportunity to focus on local children at Christmas time."

Chris Barker of NPS Group, said: "As part of the partnership with Hull City Council, NPS work closely with Children and Young People's Services helping tomaintain the children's homes and working to support fostering service across the city with property initiatives.

"We are proud to be able to contribute and return some of the benefits from the partnershipdirectly back to the children."
