Hull’s newest millionaire can finally leave home

Oliver Milner, 27, said he is using part of his £1,944,322 win to buy his first home and move out of his mother’s house in Hull.

Mr Milner said he only bought his ticket at the last minute when he was in a Tesco garage on a Friday night last month.

And because of the queue at the till, he only got hold of his numbers seconds before the 7.30pm deadline.

He did not realise he had won until the next day.

Mr Milner told a press conference at a Hull hotel he was still coming to terms with his win but was planning to buy a house of his own.

He was sitting next to his mother, Dianne Walker, who said: “It’s every parent’s dream to know that their children are financially secure for the rest of their lives.

“I’m delighted.

“And at last he’s moving out.”

Asked about how he felt when he found out about his win, Mr Milner said: “I was in shock.

“It’s what dreams are made of.

“I asked my mum to check and she thought I was joking. I’m still in shock now.”

He said he has already given up his job as a customer adviser for the energy firm npower.

But he looked slightly embarrassed when he was asked if he was now Hull’s most eligible bachelor.

Now he is planning to take his family to Disney World in Florida, and his friends on a trip to New York to celebrate his 28th birthday next month.

Mr Milner said he loves his cars and is eyeing up some luxury vehicles to add to the BMW he already drives.

And he is also looking to get a season ticket for his beloved Manchester United.

He said he has had some luck before betting on football matches but his previous biggest windfall was £4,000.

Mr Milner won with five numbers and a Lucky Star in the EuroMillions draw on Friday August 10.

The winning numbers were 11, 17, 21, 48 and 50. The Lucky Stars were 9 and 10.
