Humberside Fire and Rescue Service's highest ranking officer to retire

The highest ranking officer of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service will to retire later this year, it was announced today.

After nearly 31 years of service, chief fire officer and chief executive Dene Sanders will step down on September 9.

Coun John Briggs, chairman of Humberside Fire Authority, said: “Dene has served Humberside Fire and Rescue Service with distinction since 1986 and has led the organisation over recent years with professionalism and enthusiasm.

“I have enjoyed working with him through some significant operational and budgetary challenges, but am assured that his successor will take over a service on an even financial footing and with a new structure better placed to keep our communities safer than ever.”

Recruitment of a new chief fire officer will take place over the coming months.
