Hunt for missing North Yorkshire man in Newcastle

A MAJOR search is under way in freezing conditions for a man from North Yorkshire who went missing after a night out with friends.

Police were joined by search specialists on Newcastle's Quayside in the hunt for Duncan Gibbon, 21, from Northallerton.

He was celebrating a friend's 21st birthday in the city and was last seen leaving Fever Bar at around midnight on Saturday.

Mr Gibbon was with friends who left the bar in two groups and each thought he was with the other, so he was not reported missing until Sunday.

He is white, of slim to medium build, 5ft 10ins tall, with short straight brown hair, clean-shaven, with a clear complexion and blue eyes.

He wore dark blue denim jeans and a dark blue/grey waist-length hooded jacket.

Temporary Superintendent Geoff Logan said: "Mr Gibbon has not gone missing before and so this is very out of character.

"We are concerned for his welfare due to the length of time he has been missing and the cold weather conditions.

"It's imperative that anyone who saw him on Saturday night or has seen him since contacts us as soon as possible so we can piece together his movements and try to find him as soon as possible."
