Hunt for train gang in sex attack on ticket inspector

A TICKET inspector was indecently assaulted and verbally abused by up to 30 young men as she walked through a busy train, police have revealed.

The 26-year-old woman, from Pontefract, was touched inappropriately and insulted by a group on a train travelling from Doncaster to Leeds.

British Transport Police officers believe 20 to 30 youths were involved in the incident, at about 9pm on October 2.

The train was busy at the time and police want to speak to other passengers.

Pc Tahira Bibi, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was an unsavoury and completely unprovoked attack on a member of rail staff going about her normal duties.

"I am appealing for anyone who was on the train at the time to come forward."
