Husband to face trial over Yorkshire postmistress murder

A MAN accused of murdering his postmistress wife in a North Yorkshire village will go on trial next year, a judge ruled today.

Robin Garbutt, 45, denies killing Diana, 40, whose body was found in their home above Melsonby Post Office, North Yorkshire, in March.

His trial was originally due to start today but last week a judge granted him bail and said a new date would have to be fixed.

Today, Garbutt attended Teesside Crown Court for a three minute hearing.

He spoke only to confirm his name as he stood in the dock wearing a grey suit, white shirt and a dark tie.

The court heard a trial date had now been fixed for March 21, next year.

Garbutt left court after he was again granted bail by the judge.
