Iconic estate gearing up for motor show

Castle Howard is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to one of the region's biggest motor shows tomorrow.

For the first time the stunning North Yorkshire estate will host hundreds of vintage and classic vehicles visiting The Yorkshire Post Motor Show and Classic Car Rally.

Immortalised in both big and small screen versions of Evelyn Waugh’s celebrated novel, Brideshead Revisited, the landmark offers a fitting backdrop to the Father’s Day show which is celebrating ‘Best of British’.

Rachel Underwood, Castle Howard marketing manager, said: “We’re really looking forward to hosting this popular event for the first time; the mix of classic cars, family entertainment and acres of parkland to discover make it the perfect day out this Father’s Day.

“Our catering marquee will be serving up pie, peas and pints especially for Dad, as well as glasses of Pimm’s and Prosecco on offer too. Children will love the miniature farm, fairground rides and adventure playground and of course the spitfire flyover will be a show highlight for everyone. And for those who wish to see inside the house, event tickets can be upgraded on the day.”

Visitors can see hundreds of classic, vintage, specialist and commercial vehicles.

Lisa Bradbury, Yorkshire Post Newspapers events manager, said: “The response we have had this year has been absolutely overwhelming. The standard of classic cars that will be on show will be quite a spectacle.”
