Impaled cat rescued

FIREFIGHTERS have rescued a cat which had its leg impaled on a metal fence, two days after it went missing from its home in Swinton, Rotherham.

The cat, Jack, had been missing since Saturday, September 4 and was found by its owner with a spike through its leg near the family home. A fire crew from Rotherham used cutting equipment to free him from the fence and took the cat to the vet in the fire engine, with part of the spike still attached to its leg.

He then underwent surgery at Arncliffe Veterinary Surgery in Wath-upon-Dearne and was “recovering well” yesterday.
